The same thing with the London season. And Wolf's awareness of the tremendous obstacles between hero and heroine is realistic, as is the initial solution planned for the couple. Young Lady Jane Fitzmaurice had everything that Regency society approved of—flawless beauty, perfect breeding, and a respectable fortune. But she also had a mind and heart of her own that set heads shaking and tongues wagging. When Jane reaches age 17, is beautiful, and David 18, she is sent to London for a Season, with the hope she will catch a husband. She does meet Jeremy Wrexham who offers for Jane. But Jane misses David much too much and they begin to talk of marriage-- I have never really liked Joan Wolf's writing, but this Regency romance seems better than most. Eventually, she is commanded to go to London for a Season and she cooperates as best as her strong personality will allow. When she receives a marriage proposal from the highly sought after Lord Julian Wrexham, her uncle hopes she will say yes because he has belatedly realized how things stand between Jane and David.
